Book in Portuguese written by Ana Paula Abreu and illustrated by me.

FREEDOM AND DEPTH

A seagull who wanted a friend. A story about life and its infinite possibilities.

The book “The Boy and the Seagull” tells the story of a boy who uses a wheelchair and talks with a seagull, expressing his desire to be as free as she is, while the seagull shares her own loneliness. The seagull then shows the boy that freedom is not in the legs, but in the wings we all have—big or small, visible or not. She encourages him to find his own wings by diving into the sea and discovering a world full of possibilities.

The author, Ana Paula de Abreu, was inspired by her passion for the sea when writing the book and says that we are all half boy, half seagull. The illustrator, Ana Cardia, sees the boy’s condition as a metaphor for the limitations we all face in life and believes that finding our wings is the key to making the most of life.
